Our Team

Felix is a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and a third-generation longshoreman. He worked as a longshoreman from 1986 to 2004 and served on the Union Board of Directors for the International Longshoremen’s Association, Local 1740, ACD, in San Juan, PR, from 1990 to 2004. In 2004, he decided to make a significant change in his life by exploring a new market and industry, which led him to move to the Hampton Roads, VA area.

In his previous role, Felix was a key contributor to the success and growth of a staffing company based in Norfolk. During his nearly ten years with the company, he played a vital role in its development from a small startup to a business generating over $20 million in annual revenue.

After spending 28 years in the marine and staffing industries, Felix co-founded Southern Staffing Solutions LLC in July 2015 with his business partner, Maghen Wells-Stern. Built on a foundation of trust and integrity, they have developed longstanding relationships with both customers and employees. Felix looks forward to continuing to serve both with Southern Staffing Solutions, LLC. In his free time, Felix enjoys fishing, playing golf, and traveling around the world with family & friends.

Edgar was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey but spent the majority of his adult life in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area. Where he served in the United States Navy for over 20years and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Eventually moving to Jacksonville, Florida where he currently resides with his wife Endya, son Christopher and daughter Angela.

Fun fact, Edgar is the first employee hired by Southern Staffing. He was able to recruit, process, and train all new hires while looking for new customers to expand the business. As the Operations Manager he oversees the recruiting and hiring process, improving productivity and efficiency.

On his free time, Edgar is an avid bowler having bowled 4 perfect 300 score games and spending time with family and friends. His biggest source of enjoyment is seeing his children happy and having fun.

Jenny was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. As the daughter of a United States Navy sailor, she spent her early childhood years traveling to different states. In 1989 her family settled in Jacksonville, Florida where she spent her formative years.

After graduating Duncan Fletcher High School she relocated to Orlando, Florida. Finding employment at an Optometry office. She became a highly valued optical assistant, having many repeat clients over her 10-year career. After beginning a family with her husband, she relocated back to Jacksonville, Florida to be closer to her family.

In March of 2018 she joined Southern Staffing. Working her way through the company, starting as a part-time receptionist, moving up to a Staffing Specialist, then to payroll assistant and now HR Coordinator. Her current goals are to continue to grow with the company and learn all aspects of the business. She enjoys helping people.

On her free time, she enjoys being the mother of 4 beautiful children, listening to different genres of music and watching scary movies.

Originally from Colombia, Maria moved to the United States four years ago in search of new opportunities. Before joining Southern Staffing Solutions a year ago as a Payroll Administrator, she accumulated over two years of experience in Payroll/Office Administration. In this previous role, she ensured that all accounting information was processed accurately and efficiently while managing payroll software to streamline operations.

While in college, Maria worked as a Quality Assurance Manager, where she focused on maintaining and updating equipment. This experience helped develop her skills in attention to detail, problem-solving, and quality control.

At Southern Staffing Solutions, Maria has shown commitment to her role, enhancing payroll systems for greater efficiency and accuracy, experiencing significant professional growth.

Outside of work, Maria enjoys playing volleyball, listening to music, and spending time with her husband and friends, which helps her stay energized and balanced. She looks forward to continuing to grow with Southern Staffing Solutions and contributing to its success!

Yaya was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and is from Cuban descent. From being the captain of her high school’s robotics team to her first job in retail, she has always enjoyed stepping up to the challenge.

In 2013, she graduated from Bernstein High School and moved across country to Jacksonville, Florida to attend Jacksonville, University. Initially an undecided major she later switched to physics and mathematics as she found her natural curiosity peaked in these classes. Shortly after starting school, she began working part-time as a waitress in a mediterranean restaurant honing her customer service skills.

In February of 2020 she joined Southern Staffing. Starting as a receptionist she enjoyed learning about the shipyard industry and helping employees. Her future goals include becoming an OSHA instructor and Safety Coordinator so that she may help others stay safe. On her free time, she enjoys reading fantasy books, attending anime conventions, and spending time with family and friends.

Joined Southern Staffing in 2022 as a Temp Receptionist where she quickly grew and became an integral part of the team. After being offered permanent employment, she continued to showcase her abilities and is currently an Administrative Assistant.

Born in Humacao, Puerto Rico, she spent her childhood riding horses, enjoying nature and going to the beach. Moving to the states at the age of 9 she was able to learn English and make friends quickly. She graduated from Englewood High School in 2020 looking forward to what the future holds.

On her free time, she loves to travel having been to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico recently. Making memories with her 7 nieces and nephews showering them with love and attention.
